CURRENT NEWS & INFO ~ Feburary 2005:
This journal is not representative of my deepest thoughts, feelings or even all of what I do, it's for business purposes and networking. If you know me IRL and want to know where my private journal is, email me and ask. All my posts here are public, so please feel free to add me! I have big plans for Phelony Productions, but first I have to be well enough to be able to pull it all off. Currently I'm developing a website but what I'll be able to make and offer will depend on what happens after my rehabilitation is complete. I have a tendancy to push myself, wanting to do many things but have had to come to the realization that I have to submit and do what my body wants instead of what *I* want to do.
You see I've been dealing with chronic nerve pain in my neck, shoulders, arms & lower back since being rear-ended at a stoplight a year ago. In addition I've also had some immune issues and if that's not enough I got bleeding ulcers for christmas. *ow* I live daily with what they are now saying is likely a permanent condition; bi-lateral Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) or google search. Basically it makes my arms & hands numb, tingly & cold, makes me drop things a lot, I have constant pains up and down my arms and my shoulder blades spasm & feel like someone always has me up on a couple of meathooks. No kidding! Any type of activity involving the arms, shoulders or hands such as being on the computer, housework, driving...yanno, the basic stuff...makes me hurt. *rolls eyes* Needless to say, I haven't been able to use the sewing machine or do much fakehair and make-up stuff either. They've wanted me to be doing NOTHING for six months now to give my muscles a chance to loosen and allowed to be retrained. The six months prior were spent with me trying to do normal activities, then getting frustrated at being rewarded with weeks of pain afterwards since I wasn't fully diagnosed OR told *how* serious an injury it was until September.
None of this is any fun at all as anyone who has ever been crippled with chronic neuropathic pain can tell you especially not for someone who is used to doing everything herself and not asking for help. *HUGE SIGH* Having very little control over your life is terribly spirit-crushing. Because of, and in addition to, all this I've been thrown some killer curve balls (personal, healthwise and socio-economic) the last few months which have promted me to make some changes in my personal life. Things are looking up now. I'm optimistic, working hard and complying with the Docs, so time will tell. Lots more appointments, physical therapy and red tape to do look forward to in the next few weeks & months though. Bummer. I now know why when people get injury settlements they say I'd rather have my health [read:life] back instead. *sigh*
I really DO hate to whine, hence my lj-silence for the last few months, but it's hard to explain what I'm going through without sounding completely pathetic and/or like I'm making excuses, so I kept it zipped and dealt with it...or not as the case may be. Basically all this means I've been off my game for well over a year now, not happy, not healthy and not able to do dick about it; slow and painful suicide for an active, organized, independent control-freak like me. It's been an uphill battle for sure, but I hope to be healthy again very soon; I'm already happier.
Onto the Project Me 3.0 phase of my life now as I concentrate on me, my health, my son and my future again with the support of my urban-family, some great specialists, therapists & the wonderful world of integrative medicine. *MMMMmmmmmm* Acupuncture has been my saving grace as far as pain management; I've had several sessions and the pain has been minimized by about 60%! I'm starting reiki next. I've managed my pain narcotic-free so far *knock wood* but it hasn't been easy. I'm dependent on muscle relaxers & neurontin to function otherwise I have huge knots and I'd need daily massage....which isn't going to happen.
After some major life-altering changes, adjustments and subsequent ramping-up I hope to get Phelony Productions back online by Spring/Summer 2006 offering many of the goodies I've had all this time to dream up. But for now I put my life back together, make future plans, make some much-needed changes and get back to the business of being me. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING has taken a back seat lately as I was unable even complete the simplest of tasks let alone be able to party like a rockstar. =P See you soon and keep checking back for more updates & info.
